3rd: PRESTON, Goosnargh Oliverson’s C of E Primary School. ‘Tuning in the Family of God’, exploring why we sing, and experiencing new ways of praising God, led by John Bell.

4th: WAKEFIELD, Joseph Winter Lecture, 7:30pm, delivered by John Bell

6th: LONDON. ‘Singing the Unseen Jesus’ and ‘First Steps in Musical Integrity’, participative music event for singers and instrumentalists across Westminster RC Diocese, c.10.30am – 4pm

13th – 14th: CHEADLE HULME, Manchester. ‘Sing a New Song’, Saturday workshops with John Bell & Graham Maule, Sunday service

18th: DORKING, St. Martin’s. John Bell delivers a talk on the Church Hymnary, 4th Edition, as part of lecture series, ‘The Making of Many Books’

15th–21st: IONA. ‘Voices from the Edge’, a gathering to share the songs and experience of those who are not ‘mainstream’ but who have much to offer for the renewal of the Church’s worship and witness. FULLY BOOKED.

1st–3rd: PLUSCARDEN ABBEY, Moray. Symposium on ‘The Scottish Tradition of Sacred Music’

Holy City Events

The 2008-09 Holy City programme 'Subways' concerns itself with the journey of discipleship, taking one aspect each month, pulling it apart in workshops and then putting it all together again in liturgy. (Events usually take place at Renfield St Stephen's Church in Glasgow.)

Events facilitated by or including workshops by Alison Adam, a Member of the Iona Community.

June 6, Manchester: East Didsbury. A day of workshops run by the Methodist Church’s new Arts Network. Focusing on ‘Celebration and Concern’ through worship workshops.

June 7, Kettering. An afternoon and workshop and evening worship on Trinity Sunday with the Methodist Circuit.

June 14, Canterbury. A singing workshop and evening worship for young people and whoever else might come along! A Methodist Circuit event. 

21 June, Greenwich: The Journey.

25 June, London: Big Sing, indoors this year!

YOUTH EVENTS

2009 on Iona

YOUTH CLUBS' WEEK – 4–10 July: A week for groups of 11-14-year-olds and their leaders. A week of living, laughing and learning together.

YOUTH FESTIVAL – 1–7 August: A week for groups of 15-18-year-olds and their leaders. A week of fun and challenge with an emphasis on participation.

WILD GOOSE RESOURCE GROUP – 15–21 August: A creative and lively week exploring worship and music that changes lives. NB – book through the WGRG at Savoy House – 0141-332-6343.

The Youth Department in Glasgow continues its vital work with young offenders in Polmont Young Offenders Institute and its work in schools throughout Scotland.

The Dutch Iona group yearly weekend will be in het Doopsgezind Broederschapshuis in Schoorl from 21-24 May. Columba Day will be celebrated in Wageningen in de Doopsgezinde Kerk on 13th June. From 9-11 October the Dutch Iona group will meet with members of region groups and Dutch Associates and Members from the Iona Community in het Doopsgezind Broederschapshuis in Schoorl.
